Deciding to seek acupuncture treatment is an exciting decision. We applaud all our clients who take the first step and make the decision to come and experience an acupuncture session. We understand that not knowing what to expect can be a bit nerve-wracking.

Selecting Your Acupuncturist

Firstly, it's essential to understand how to pick an acupuncturist that you not only feel comfortable with but is also credentialed, qualified, and experienced to give you optimal results. This article will help you understand what to expect from your first session and following sessions while you are on your healing journey.

When booking, the most important standard is ensuring that an acupuncturist meets the state-required credentials, certifications, and licenses. Dr. Cara Kovats has continued her initial three-year acupuncture master's level degree and gone on to continue for another two years of TCM herbal studies at the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine.

After completing the herbal program, Dr. Cara Kovats completed her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science. In addition to studying and being a licensed acupuncturist, Dr. Cara has a strong background in western medicine with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and Gerontology from Monmouth University. Prior to acupuncture school, Dr. Cara also studied yoga, thai yoga, and ayurvedic medicine at Kula Kamala Yoga School.

Be Well Acupuncture's newest addition to the team is an associate acupuncturist, Jana Fenning. Jana graduated from Stockton University with a degree in psychology. Working in the health field and healing was always Jana's calling. Jana went on to study acupuncture at the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine, where she graduated with a master's degree in acupuncture in 2017. Jana is NCCAOM board-certified and NJ state licensed. She has been working in sports medicine for the past 5 years treating various injuries and ailments. In 2018 Jana was certified in cosmetic facial rejuvenation acupuncture, and in 2021, she studied directly under Dr. Cara & Dr. Deanna of Microessence, where she began incorporating microneedling into her offerings.

The Importance of Mind-Body Connection

Selecting an acupuncturist that focuses on the mind-body is key to receiving the optimal benefits from a session. At Be Well, Dr. Cara and Jana treat the body holistically, combining their knowledge of Chinese Medicine with each of their unique backgrounds. We address and help you achieve your goals in all health aspects, from emotional and spiritual health to physical and mental health.

Your First Appointment

At Be Well Acupuncture, we go beyond to make sure our clients feel comfortable throughout their sessions. During treatment, you may feel a slight pinch in certain spots, but most likely, you may find the sensation relaxing to the point that you may fall asleep during the session, so it's good to wear comfortable clothes for your sessions.

All of our acupuncture appointments include a Biomat session. This far-infrared ray device is filled with amethyst crystals and used for pain and stress management. We also include essential oils, electric stimulation, and cupping as needed. These additional approaches are based on your unique body, mind, and needs.

After your session, you could feel relaxed or more rejuvenated, depending on the targeted area. But, most importantly, you will feel. Our team is always here to help answer your questions or concerns. Contact us today to speak to one of our team members and book your first session.
